Innovation of mining industry

At Thuringia DEUSA International operates an industrial plant for hot leaching extraction and processing of carnallite.

The unadulterated salts come from a 250 million years old mineral deposit. At a depth of up to 500 metres the salt is leached underground environment friendly and transported via pipes to daylight. Through this process the important materials, magnesium chloride and potassium chloride are separated already underground from the non-usable materials. 

The residual substances remain at the mineral deposits and contribute to the stability of the come into being cavities. Thus the formation of residue heaps can be completely avoided by this environment conscious process waste. This also effects an increase of operational safety, because there is no underground mining necessary.

 

Environment-friendly mining industry technology

The leaching of carnallite is a selective hot solving process where mainly the material component carnallit will be dissolved underground at the mineral deposit.

This is done by drillings down to the lower edge of the mineral deposit and then be piped. The piping ensures the feeding and removing of the required liquid flows to and from the mineral deposit. The leaching takes place slice by slice from the lower to the upper edge of the mineral deposit. At that caverns typical for carnallitite leaching are formed. Other components of mineral deposit like rock salt and kieserite remain as residue in the cavern.
